Tool Designer (56996)
HOURS: 1st Shift Monday - Friday (7:30 am to 4 pm)
PAY RATE: $20/hr.+ DOE
CPS Recruitment is partnering with an East Syracuse based company to find a Tool Designer to become a vital part of their team! As the Tool Designer, you will be responsible for the design, drawings, and manufacturing of cutting tools ensuring they conform to engineering drawings.

Duties & Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Designs cutting tools based on manufacturing engineering machine layout requirements
- Studies specifications, engineering blueprints, tool orders, and shop data and confers with engineering and shop personnel to resolve design problems
- Manages tooling production scheduling database and provides direction to tool manufacturing personnel. Coordinates tool manufacturing scheduling with manufacturing engineering and tool crib personnel
- Creates and maintains NC code for manufacture of cutting tools where applicable
- Prepares detailed tool drawings using company approved drafting software and ensures the accurate maintenance of networked CAD drawings revision levels
- Defines methods and coordinates tool manufacturing processes and personnel to produce tooling to required schedules
- Works with machining personnel to resolve tooling problems or identify areas of tooling improvements to include both tool manufacture and performance issues
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Proven strength and proficiency in AutoCAD software
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including interpersonal skills to effectively deal with individuals at all levels
- Proficient computer skills to include Microsoft Office Suite with the ability to learn and use SAP
- Strong mathematical skills to aid in tool configurations, specifically trigonometry
- Ability to work with close tolerances
- Ability to utilize hand tools and have strong mechanical abilities
- Proficiency in blueprint reading
- Well-developed organization skills, including the ability to handle many details and multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment while upholding quality standards
- Ability to deliver accurate, high-quality work while adhering to tight deadlines
- Must demonstrate safe working habits, the ability to follow directions and work with minimal supervision
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment in a culturally diverse workplace
