CPS Recruitment is seeking a DRG Medical Coding Specialist for a Direct Hire opportunity in Syracuse, NY. Compensation for this DRG Medical Coding Specialist role is $23.50+/hr, DOE

Hours are Full-Time, Monday – Friday from 7:30am – 4pm, onsite in Syracuse, NY.

As a DRG Medical Coding Specialist, you will:

• Review medical documents to assign diagnostic and procedure codes according to established classification systems and standards
• Communicate with physicians and providers to ensure medical records are documented accurately
• Examine policies and procedures to guarantee classifications comply with all laws, regulations, and standards
• Review DRG denials and discrepancies
• Complete all documentation and classifications electronically and independently and communicate adjustments and trends to the HIM department
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor including attendance at team meetings

Background Profile for the DRG Medical Coding Specialist:

• Professional Coding Certification required (AAPC, AHIMA)
• CCS, RHIA, or RHIT required
• 2+ years healthcare coding experience in an acute care setting
• Understanding of ICD-9-CM as well as ICD-10-CM/PCS and DRG methodologies
• Proficient with medical terminology and anatomy
