A well-established and growing manufacturing organization in the Syracuse area is looking for a Senior Cost Accountant to join their team!

Key job duties include the following:

• Investigate variances of projects costs against approved expenses
• Assist with budget process, analyze capital budget requests
• Work with manufacturing team to understand processes and to seek cost and efficiency improvements
• Participate in project meetings, conduct ongoing process constraint analysis
• Accumulate and apply overhead costs as required by GAAP
• Calculate break even points by product and by work center
• Reconcile inventories and cost of goods
• Provide detailed cost estimate for new products and proposed changes to current products
• Participate in month end close process, analyzing anomalies and recording journal entries as needed
• Review, validate and reconcile gross margins at month end by product
• Support of payroll processing and recording on a weekly basis
• Create and maintain cost benefit analysis for changing vendors and outsourcing production
• Prepare schedules and reports detailing key variances on financial statements

Skills and Qualifications required:

• BS in Accounting
• Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail, ability to learn standard and cost variance analysis
• 3+ years of Cost Accounting experience in manufacturing setting is strongly preferred
• Have a strong background in Microsoft Excel
• Be creative and possess superior organizational, interpersonal and oral/written communication skills.
